Rush hour on the London Underground can be hell…

Brilliant Detective Leyland Francis is returning to the National Crime Agency after recovering from serious injuries he suffered in the line of duty.

His morning commute is interrupted by an unusual contact with a beautiful young woman, setting in motion a series of events which lead him to be involved in a murder investigation headed up by his close friend D.C.I. Phil Mercer. An investigation which leads to a terrible realisation for the troubled Francis.

 

Working hard to prove his abilities again, Leyland, with his hard drinking and straight-talking friend and their
team take to the streets of London and quickly spiral into a world of deceit, corruption, double-crossing, the criminal underworld and personal demons in an attempt to bring justice to a young murder victim.

Aided by a former C.I.A. operative, cut loose in London, and a fiery-tempered journalist Leyland fights against kidnap, incarceration and the persistent attempts of an ambitious and cold Occupational Health director with a personal agenda determined to kick him off the Force.
Mercer battles the bottle, bullets and the top brass breathing down his neck for answers on the case, and quickly.
